Well it's about time Jalynn got some fresh water in
the yard for me. I showed her.. I haven't been to the
feeder all winter when she was looking.
A drink is so refreshing when the snow is on the ground and
everything is frozen.
I think I'll have another before those Doves show up and
muddy up the water
Now! For a bite to eat... UH OH! What's this big guydoing on my feeder?
Look me in the eye here..... doesn't he know I rule?

Alright.. well maybe three.. just this one time.
Yes! That's what I'm talking about. She hid the red grapes
on the bottom but I got one. I'll be back. Lets give someone
else a chance to eat these green grapes off the top.
Hey Redbelly, not the red. . . get the green...the GREEN ..are you color blind?
Who would have thought a squirrel could be my friend?
That's good little furry, you can eat the green.
(I have noticed that when offered red and green grapes the birds will take the red first. When only green is offered they will eat them right up. Wonder why?)

As for color, I think that when fruit/berries get red they are sweeter.

The pictures are great,but I love the coversation the Mocking bird had.I have to wonder,do birds think along those lines?:)Sometimes it would seem as if they do.Who kows?

Great photos of that Mockingbird..I love your shots of them with the berries in their mouths. Have to try the grape things..I put grapes in a hanging feeder but no takers..have to try a flat feeder..Thanks for sharing! :)
I loved these! My mockingbirds aren't coming to the feeders yet - I see them in the trees, but they aren't trying to take over.

Richard: I do taste the grapes and won't buy them unless they are sweet, so who knows. Then I thought about color but do we know if birds are color blind? A lot of interesting questions.
Ruth: I don't know how the birds think, but it sure is fun to add conversations and expressions to the pictures!
Marsha: The grapes do freeze but it doesn't seem to matter to the birds, and sometimes they just stay there until the sun thaws them a little and then the birds eat them.
Great post! I love that you feed grapes, but then I am shocked that the squirrel don't take them all. I have that problem and then some.

Anyway, I don't think Bob, my neighbor has had any problems with his Castor Bean plant either.
I always worry about a kid eating one of the seeds or trying to eat it and I think it would be deadly.
Not sure if it is the same on all animals but man can't tolerate it.
I love all your feeder friends - that Mockingbird was definitely sizing up the situation w/ the blue jay!
