The Star of the Show

The Black and White Warbler...

Our first bus trip was to High Country and the star
for sure....was the Black and White. Everywhere we
went he was sure to follow!!

I was loving his 'showing off' so I could get the photos

Wild and Wonderful West Virginia.....

A really big ole jane & barbie Adventure.......

We planned this trip months and months ago after barbie
saw it on Lynne Hasty Brook Blog. We didn't tell anyone
because we weren't sure we could come until the last minute.
But when everything worked out we were in the car and on
our way to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia.
I grew up in PA very close to the MD Mason Dixon line,
and WVA was a place as a child my family visited often. So I was
anxious to drive those wonderful winding curvy roads once again.

The Redbud was in bloom making a beautiful splash
of color along the roads... the winding curvy roads.

We stopped to get a shot of this Trillium that
is one of their wildflowers.

The first bird we saw was a very familiar species
The Carolina Wren

In WV Holly grows wild in the woods

This little water fall was a surprise when we took a dirt road in
search of some water fowl. (none found)

But we did come across this this congregation
of butterflies...

Then with heightened anticipation.... Our Cabin Retreat!

Our Own Little Cabin awaiting our arrival....what a perfect
setting.

Keith, who we've gotten to know and love!!! left us a note
with some cookies to welcome us to the cabin

Our First little jaunt was to the Canyon Rim at New River Gorge
Wow! Breathtaking scenery

Before birding... kayaking and whitewater rafting was
the biggie attraction here...

The Famous New River Gorge Bridge.....where
they used to bungee jump!!! yikes..

Stay tuned for the 'birds'.. After all we ARE here for
the Birding Festival.
