Autumn on my Mind

Autumn carries more gold in its hand
than all the other seasons.
Jim Bishop

My son and daughter in law asked me to check
out a new trail that was opened Sunday and
I was glad to go along.
It was easy to walk being 3 miles total. Just
far enough for some exercise and just short
enough you weren't worn out from walking.

Pennsylvania is quite beautiful in October. I wasn't
disappointed: from the crunch of the leaves to
the colorful trees to the scent of the earth
only found in the fall.

My son, daughter in law and dog Sophie seemed to
match the fall colors.

I love the reds and golds

Now this is a handsome threesome.

The following few pictures were taken on my deer route
near my dad's house.

I've seen a lot of deer in this field, but today nothing is stirring.

The other day I couldn't resist this picture of 'Chimney Rocks'
in Hollidaysburg with old Glory resting in front of the
view.

And of course, in my travels I did see a couple of birds.
An American Male Kestrel brought back my memories
of the ones I documented in the spring:
go here for a look

And a Flicker was posing for a moment for me.

I love the yellow on the underneath of the tail.

Thanks everyone! Autumn sure is pretty but it doesn't last near long enough. Soon the rains will come in and the leaves will be down, but then snow will be coming and that is just as pretty! All seasons have their beauty!
And thanks for the compliments on my 'kids'. These two are very photogenic!

Beautiful photographs as usual. I do like the Flicker. A bird I have not seen here in my backyard. Not yet anyway.

I love the photo of the green rolling fields with the colorful autumn trees along the edge and tucked into that hollow. Nice flicker photo too! I am missing trees just about now and it is so nice to see all the autumn colors showing up on all these northern blogs!
