a Few highlights of my trip

This was not a 'birding' trip but I have to get a picture
or two if I have that opportunity. The Gulls
were willing subjects. We were on Ellis Island
when these were taken.
It seemed like they were lined up like it was their
runway, and when one would fly another
would step up on the ball.

Ready for take-off....

The Statue of Liberty seen in the background of
this picture of a gull on the ball. (click to enlarge)

At a place called Roosevelt Park near Edison NJ I saw a couple
interesting birds. The Egret below fishing along the shore

And this Double crested Cormorant which had to be juvenile...
It would not fly away even though we were within feet of it.

It has a hooked beak and a very pretty teal-green colored eye.

It finally did hop into the water when my daughter walked
right within a foot of it.

Those are super shots. The close-up of the Cormorant really shows the detail.

Very beautiful photos!

Maybe the bird was molting and couldn't fly? I don't know that much about that type of bird but when they don't fly that is often the problem with ducks and geese.

My Abe's Town blog should be back online today or tomorrow. Because I work on blogs and publish them time after time their computers think it is a spam blog and they lock it. I think you can still see it though. Then they send a human being around to check it out and make sure it is not a spam blog and then release it. LOL

So, I started the one you were at, Gordon, Ohio. It is my home town. And will be filled with the stuff I had in my book. It gives me something to do and keeps my mind occupied and not on those days when I could do almost anything.

Thanks for stopping. I always count on you to find me.

As you probably know, my Gordon, Ohio and my Abe's Town blogs are where I post things I plan to post on one of my larger blogs like Brookville Daily Photo.

Right now I just posted a story on Gordon, Ohio about Sandy Marcum and the littlest Thief. (That would be me) and the price I paid for it. It is akin to me eating the whole chocolate cake -- a recent post, and then telling a lie about it. You can read the story now if you want to go there.

Never seen a Coromant this close. Great chance for great photos.

The cormorant is really neat to see so close. My favorite is the egret but wow - looks like it didn't land right and he made an 'owie' haha - therefore the beak open in pain ;-)
Great pictures from your trip!
