There are trees behind the playhouse. And apparently this
was a safe haven for a 'roost' for a few young turkeys.

Then 3 more flew in different directions... not enough time for
a picture. But then I look up and there sits one lone bird.
I got about 10 pictures before it too flew.
I thought it was a young turkey, and was confirmed by my friend's
husband who is a hunter. How neat on an early morning!

Aw, he's cute - hope the hunters never see him!
I've never seen a young turkey - kind of a lanky skinny looking bird, not the fat plump turkey pictured at Thanksgiving that's for sure :-) How fun that they are in your yard!
birdlady, there is no hunting where I am so chances are if they stick close by they will survive.
Marsha: I would say this is more like a teenager! I've never seen one quite like this either.
How nice is that? You did something right and got the reward. Wonderful.
I just wanted to say, I read your comments with interest and am glad that you seem to enjoy what I post. Thank you.

Oh my word! You have a baby turkey in your tree! lol That is SO awesome! :) I am glad you were able to capture him on 'film'!
Wow, what a find! Lucky!!!!!!! Only this year, have I even run across seeing baby turkeys...which was very exciting, but to capture them in a tree-the coolest!
