Variety is the Spice of Life...

Hear ye, Hear ye, says my mad chickadee....

My week of pictures was so varied and special I just
had to share a few (maybe many) with you. The oranges
put out for the Orioles brought different faces to the feeders
and I got some 'tree shots' in the natural setting that
everyone seems to love. So let's begin...

The Red-belly was caught with his tongue sticking out! Click it to see it.

Along with the rain came the Grosbeak to the shepherd's hook.

One beauuuutiful Oriole at the feeder. Love these colorful
beauties and the music of their song is delightful!

Two catbirds have been slurping their way through the oranges.

A female Cardinal with ruffed up feathers..

I could look at these birds all day and listen to their song.
At least this Oriole is brightly colored unlike an earlier post
of the 'washed out' one.

My pair in the 'natural setting'

Look who I caught in the same tree... Female Grosbeak.

A wet Mr. Cardinal during the rain.

I was thinking the cat might have gotten the chipmunk, but
today I was proven wrong. He came out to check out the
pansies I planted in the teakettle. Looks like he may have
eaten the flowers, they're missing.

And here is my 'Mad Chickadee' I loved this capture.

To end my week, I went to visit my dad and in the
fields by his house came across this piebald deer.
It's so hard to get a shot with all the sticks and trees in
the path of the camera. It just doesn't want to focus.

As I moved along in the car slowly, looking for a place with
less between me and the deer, I snapped away. She watches me
while I watch her. (I'm guessing a doe)

Finally she stands still and I get a decent shot.

I love to see these deer, because they are so different.

She gets bored with watching and grooms a bit and then...
Off she walks.

Perfect ending to my week.
I will be away for the week end....
A 'jane and barbie' adventure in Central Park, NY.
Look for a post on Tuesday if I can plow through the editing
and pictures by then. Have a grand week end everyone!!

Everyday is an opportunity to make a new happy ending.
To God be the Glory!

Thanks bird girl, Maybe I should publish the 'mad chickadee'! The verdict is out on the piebald. Wish I knew for sure.

This is such a fun post and I loved the tongue sticking out shot. The birds are all bright spots of color on your rainy day and I enjoyed seeing the piebald deer too.

Have fun on your adventure with birdgirl!

I just came from wings and things and while there saw an assortment of feathers that are rare here and now I am here and I see more exotic birds and all are slurping their way through the goodies you set out.

I am at a loss to discover why I don't get any orchard or Baltimore Orioles here and while I have seen a catbird once and photographed it, I don't see them more than once each year.

The red-bellied woodpecker's tongue reminded me that we stuck out an orange on the plant hook, like you do, in hopes it would somehow attract a flock of Baltimore Orioles here and when it didn't and started to look back somebody knocked it off on the ground.

I happened to look at the window once day and saw the red-bellied woodpecker sticking his tongue out and tasting the orange. I don't think he liked the taste as he fluttered off.

We have had a flock of rain here for two days and clouds like a volcano errupted somewhere but no sunshine. My flowers are beginning to think they made a mistake and are drooping in disgust.

That is a wonderful post. Never saw a woodpecker's tongue before. Very, very cool! And the orioles! Oh, I would love to have some here. They are pretty scare here anymore - they seem to be easing northward.
Happy Mothers Day!

Thank you Stacy and Marsha for your kind comments.

Abe, I tried for about 3 or 4 years to get Orioles, bought a book, did everything it said, and last year, one showed up! Then this year they came back. Same for me and hummingbirds. It took several years to get them, but now they come. Keep trying my friend, a surprise may await you! Thanks for all your nice comments.

Thanks again bird lady. bloggin is such fun!
