I love when I look out the kitchen window and there on the tree is a Pileated Woodpecker. It has only happened 4 times in 40 years. Thank You Lord for this day!
This happened last January.... haven't seen her since.
A female evident by her black mustache stripe.... males have a red one.
Their food of choice is black ants....probably what she is searching for under the tree bark

It is so very special to have one of these visit the yard. I have had one for a couple of times one winter.You got amazing shots of this one.
