IF........A Red-bellied Woodpecker ....

If....

If I were a Red-belled Woodpecker and I was
trying out for a movie....
A movie about how to eat suet ...

I'd open my mouth wide and hold it so the camera
could see....

If I could.... I would show my long tongue

And I would act shy...to show my softer side...

And I'd hunch my shoulders to show I'm not a
'know it all'

And stretch my beautiful neck to show the feathers
underneath my chin...

If....I would stick out my tongue just for fun..

or use it to taste the suet

I'd turn my head so you could see the orange above
my beak...and below my eyes..

I'd open my eye wide so you could see the intricate
white line that goes around it

I'd act silly and tuck the suet into the corner of my mouth
while my tongue goes to the roof on my beak and
the sticky string connects the beak at the end

Then I'd turn my head sideways...to give a portrait
of my inner beauty.....

and...
I'd close my eyes to show how much I 'love' the suet
Jalynn feeds me every day. and if........ just If she wanted
me to... I would be star of her movie.

I love this bird....He IS my star!

To God be the Glory ~~ Great Things He Hath Done

IF...you were a red-belly - I have no doubt that you would do ALL that and MORE - hahaha - to be the star of the movie! He is absolutely at ease and enjoying every minute of the Jalynn suet! Gorgeous pictures of a gorgeous bird!

You really got this bird in all its ways. I am always impressed by some of the birds tongues and this is no exception. Long and pointed to fit the bills I guess. Nice photography.

Where do you come up with your ideas..lol this was a GREAT post.
Such a CLEVER way to present all those crystal clear close ups!!
and that tongue..oh my!
I think this little woody does need an agent. It definitely has all the moves down..and that red and orange hair will be the talk of the town.

Move over Pink!!
