Everyone has to eat.... uhhhhhh don't they?

The other day I awoke to one of those dark and
dreary cold and rainy mornings.... I opened the
blinds and what to my surprise did I see?

I broke out the camera and used the flash...
Now some would say UGLY... only a mother
could love this face

I found him rather cute with his pink nose and child like
hands....

He was so curious .. watching me as intently as I was
observing him... An Opossum on an early morning
breakfast raid..

I'm still here... honest!

I can't believe how time has been ticking away and I
have not been blogging. I look at my list of bloggers and
see a lot of you are having a similar problem.

But.... I'm still here...
holding on for dear life sometimes....

There's just so much to do now that dad is gone, and
I'm trying to maintain a balancing act...

At times I feel like I'm walking a tight wire... selling the house
paying the bills, working... cleaning out...

Other times I hide from the world and peek into it hoping
there is not one more thing I need to do today

Looking around I ask my family to come up here and help me out

There are days the sun shines on me and

I take a big breath of fresh air

Get a bite to eat...while looking very pretty

And pray before I open that mailbox that there is not
one more thing I have to address.....

Give me another month or so, and I will be back to pictures and
blogging... I hope anyway.

The finches are the most social...conversing as they
eat sunflower seeds. "yep, they're calling for more snow
tonight...and the wind chill is near zero!"

Now, aren't you the cutest little Titmouse..

As winter winds up or down depending upon where you
are... I hope you are enjoying the birds as much
as I am. What a joy to look out the window
and see our feathered friends enjoying a treat.

Winter Moon ~ The Beauty of a Winter Night

I took these over New years when the moon was at it's brightest.
My grandson one night told me to go out and look...
I researched this a little and this is what I came up with.

An Optical Illusion.....
Unlike Saturn, which has actual, physical rings, the ring you
can sometimes see around the moon is merely an optical illusion.

It’s an effect of our own atmosphere that meteorologists call a “halo effect,”
because diffracted light rays create a halo around a bright object.
Can you see the 'rainbow ' in the halo

Moon halos are caused by tiny ice crystals that have gathered twenty
thousand feet above the ground, as thin, wispy clouds.

This means that in addition to the direct moonlight, you will also see
diffracted moonlight in a circle 22 degrees away from the moon.
This is about the distance of your fist, held at arm’s length.

Like a rainbow, this halo can even be slightly colored; red
on the inside, and blue on the outside.

Yes, it can mean that rain or snow is coming soon.
Those high, wispy clouds could be the forerunners of
storm clouds right behind them.

Since then we have had cold frigate weather and about
6 inches of snow.. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
moon prediction was right on!
