Up the Lazy River

One of my favorite places to visit is my son's camp site
on the River. Sometimes you see 'stuff' sometimes
you don't, but it is relaxing and beautiful to me. These
images bring a song to mind.... which some of you will
not remember although it was recorded by many
artists since 1930 when it was published.

Up the Lazy River.. by the old mill run

Linger awhile in the shade of a tree

Throw away your troubles... come dream with me

That lazy lazy river in the noon day sun.

Okay, enough of that sappy song... ...what else
do I see at the River... First I saw the Great blue Heron

Flying down river fishing
Finding a safe place to land and walk in the water.

Then along comes a White Egret walking behind the
purple loosestrife growing along the bank

Exploring the shallow waters for food

Resting a moment on a large rock

Turning and going the other way

Deciding to relocate away from my clicking shutter
Up Up

and away.....

zeroing in on a destination common to and familiar to him

landing on the old snag on the other side of the River

As I pause and wait... a Duck swims by...
I think this is a Male Wood Duck in eclipse plumage
correct me if I'm wrong

Then a Killdeer makes his appearance on the rocky island

Pausing to get a drink and give me the 'eye'

A loud roar announces a flock of Starlings as they
hone in on this rocky island and come screaming in

It was kind a cool to see them all splishing and splashing
in the water and droplets flying ...

Once they were all gone it was back to the Lazy
River... throw away your troubles

Come dream with me.

May you have some peaceful quiet by your own lazy
river....

Wow! What a beautiful day and a great series of pictures. Each one of the Egret got better and better. I especially like the one where he is coming in for a landing.

Have a great weekend...
