And... His eye is on the Sparrow

There is no way to know how many Sparrows there are in the world since there are billions.  Identifying them can be challenging to say the least.  This is a White-crowned Sparrow. They will hang around the feeder and eat both seeds and cracked corn.  They will also forage on the ground.

They nest in a low tree up to 30 feet off the ground and their nest is bark, grass and twigs lined with grass and hair.  They can have up to 4 broods per year.

Poster Child for McDonalds

Grandchildren are God's way of compensating us for growing old.

Maleah is two, my son's little girl, and .........

She Loves McDonald's Hamburgers

She is also quite the 'ham'

She isn't just a junk food junkie either she will eat her apples
and any veggie you give her too.
There is nothing more beautiful than a grandchild!

A Bird Magnet

The best thing I ever did was get my waterfall.  If you like birds, it will bring them to your yard and give you many hours of enjoyment.

The Robins continue to love the water the most.  They fight with each other and are seen more than any other bird bathing

Young Birdwatchers

When I last visited with the twins, which I do about once a month I was watching birds in their backyard with my binoculars and one of the twins asked me to buy her 'nocs' the next time I came.  So....  I brought them each a pair and they were very much into it.

Through out the week we had many activities but it always came back to the 'nocs' and birds.

 On a sunny day.....
 Or a rainy day......

one of them seemed to have the 'nocs'
chasing around and blowing dandelions was also a hit
When it got to 80 one day we broke out the watering can
And on my last day we got out the Barbie jeep and you can see....
 how much fun that was!!
 There are two
Grackle nests in their pine trees and I did get this picture
the nests are concealed but the birds are in and out.  Each time they saw a different bird I would show them on my phone and let them listen to the song.  The catbird was their favorite!

Grosbeak Misery

A Rose-breasted Grosbeak hits the window and almost bites the dust!
He sat here on the deck for almost an hour with his eyes shut.

Then with a little coaxing he flew up to the deck railing

You can tell he is young by the brown still visible on his feathers
The next day I saw him with two females on the back feeder.
Was glad he made it.

Backyard Birds

 What's happening in your backyard?
This is what is going on in mine.
When winter finally gave way to sunshine and
rain, and green grass the birds were anxious to
find food and hang out with me.

I have more Orioles this year than ever.  I count seven pairs.

They like grape jelly and cut oranges!  You put 'em
out they will come and eat ~ it doesn't matter how you offer them

Even the catbird likes the jelly
and... didn't I catch this little gobbler eating jelly too
The waterfall is a big draw for the Yellow Warbler..
 Bunnies just like grass
When I caught the Oriole trying to use my Hummingbird feeder I
just poured some sugar water in a bowl and they came to it

My Carolina Wren is gathering mealworms no doubt for
some babies hidden away somewhere

I threw away my Oriole feeder a few years ago after trying and trying to get them to come.... So now they come!
Dallas:   This post is for you for making me feel bad I don't blog anymore!!
Hope you enjoy!
