Ali Sings the "Berry"Song!

The Raspberry Pie

We had a 4th of July Picnic to attend and I thought I would give my 5 year old grand daughter Alison a lesson in picking raspberries and making a pie. Here we are in the berry patch carefully picking berries. She had never eaten one and this is her first try at a raspberry... She liked it!

The Pie was shaped like a heart but tasted like a dream.
It was yummy and I got rave reviews!

Ali made a new friend at the picnic. They were talking up a storm right before this photo.

We do not see enough of this little fella, so I will end the 4th of July Celebration with my hummer fr
amed in the background with the proud and the true
The Red White and Blue
To God be the Glory for a day of blessings!
I hope your holiday was happy!

Fireworks at Roxi's

Star Burst in the night Sky

This was the setting for fireworks at Roxi's . Beautiful pond surrounded by trees.
A peaceful 'window on nature' until the fireworks began that is!

AND this is the 'mad scientist' as Roxi calls her brother the chemist! who
orchestrated the fireworks. Double click to get a close up view.

Nice place to sit and reflect or...watch nature.

Don't forget you can click on the photos to make them 'life size' and see the detail
scroll down and watch the video. Great stuff.
Happy 4th of July to all of you. Remember our Freedom here in this Country and Don't forget to be Thankful and Praise the Lord
Glory to God!

Early 4th of July

Since the 4th falls on Wednesday I thought I would get a head start on
wishing you a "Happy 4th". My birds are wishing you one as well.
The grossbeaks came to feed beside the ole' red white and blue.

Love the way Mr. grossbeak matches the flag!

And appropriately my Hibiscus decided to bloom today! Wow!
It sure is beautiful.

But Poor Mrs. Squirrel .... seems she either has a nestful of babies
or is still pregnant. Notice her bulging stomach and 'milk factory' ready
for business!! I think she had her fun sometime before the 4th of July!

Chicadee chicadee also wishes you a wonderful 4th.

Friday night I went to an early 4th of July Party at my friend Roxi's. Her
brother, whom she calls the 'mad scientist' put on quite a fireworks show
for us. Scroll down and watch the video. You can see him in the beginning walking through the "smoke and fire". It was awesome! And we never laughed so much! I have a few more videos I will be posting soon. enjoy!

The Mad Scientist shows off his stuff!

Mama where are you?

Baby's out of the box and singing "mama where are you" I need food!
You can just see the curve of the little tail. Soon it will stick up like their mama and daddy.
I just love the way they look with all the soft downy feathers.

I woke up to an empty 'cat' box

On Friday I took this photo and little did I know it would be last one of the baby in the box! I thought I would have more time , but I did discover where they were late in the game. Very late. The house wren is a tiny bird with a short tail that is often held cocked over the back. Dusky brown above, paler below with no distinctive markings. It is hard to catch the 'pose' with the tail over the back, but I managed to get several and have posted two from front and back for your viewing. Aren't they just the cutest little bird.
It has a distressing habit of piercing the eggs of other birds. Hard to believe such a cute little bugger could be destructive.
When I went out on Saturday to set up my watch I didn't hear any noises coming from the nest box, and mom and dad were flitting around singing their lovely bubbling, exuberant song. Then I heard the baby over by the fence and there one of them was perched. I took so many pictures. All of them so 'cute'
He stayed and stayed and let me take a lot of pictures.

Happy Morning Wren
