Many come to Wildwood Park to see the flowery pageantry of the American Lotus |
Cream to Yellow flowers and seed pods can grow to 6" to 10 " across |
Great Egret forage among the lotus for amphibians |
Looks like he is singing |
Blue Herons are often seen sharing the lake with Egrets |
Here you can get close to Great Blue |
and observe the preening of his feathers |
Wood Ducks are a common sight also |
A baby I came across on a log |
The little cutie didn't stay long |
He went off to join his mom and dad |
The turtles like to sun on logs |
My big surprise was this young Green Heron standing on a snag |
As I walked down the path I almost missed him |
I knew he must be a juvenile because he stayed put |
Oh My ! What big feet he has |
and what a beautiful eye |
You just barely see the blue green on the top of the head To God be the Glory ~~ Great Things He Hath Done |

What an amazing area. The variety of birds along with Turtle are wonderful.
Your photos are wonderful...everything is so tranquil looking all the birds seem to get along..and the Lotus flowers..what a great world God has created!! : }
What a "fun" day that must have been. You got some really great pictures...Flowers, birds and a turtle too....You were blessed!
THESE PHOTOS WERE AWESOME! Loved the 2nd one with the lotus seed pod, then kept scrolling and it just got better and better! Great post!
What a wonderful sequence of pictures. I once saw a Great Egret & GBH share a small widespot in a creek. Then they got in a serious spat over the best fishing spot and threatened each other till the Egret finally gave up and flew away!
Such a treat to see all this beauty in this post! I loved seeing the herons and egrets together! Your turtle was cute too!
Hi Jalynn! Did you quit blogging? It's been a few months, thought I'd shout out, and since I can't see Birdgirl either, it is quite concerning. Hope all is well...
Take care!
