Better late than never........

A REDBELLY Photoshoot

I woke up the other morning and there was a 'skiff' of snow down. That means none is 'laying' on the ground but you can see it sticking to the roof of my Playhouse...all decorated for Fall.
And on my new SUV and on the bird feeders.
Perfect weather for BIRDS to come to the feeders and I am lucky to say I had a photo shoot with a very beautiful REDBELLY Woodpecker.

With that said: ENJOY!!

Whether eating the grapes I put out or the sunflower seeds
He is just stunningly beautiful.

He's trying to act shy cause he knows how many pictures
I have taken of his beauty.

I believe there are two Redbellys here. This one looks younger
and slimmer than the other. Just looks like a 'youth' doesn't he?

Unlike some people, I can't just post ONE picture and be
happy.. I can't make the decision which one is the best
cause I love them all. Hope you do too.

Some things Red.....

I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel to find things to

post. Wasn't this a strange place to see a Cardinal?

While I wait for a red light to turn...I look over and

there on the guide wire I spot it.

Is this just a finch? I'm still looking for a Pine Siskin

This tree is a blaze with red

While these leaves have only a tinge

When I took this picture I was trying to capture the windmills

There you go....you can see them now I saw a bluebird on a wire... yippee
and this is one of my favorite reds

The Redbelly is back at my feeder

I think he must be the most photogenic bird

What a Fall ~ God's Handiwork

After the trip to NY City I couldn't wait to get home and
see the colors of the Country where I live.
The first morning I went to the park..note the park bench.

But... sitting on the bench wasn't what I was searching for
I walked behind the park to the creek bed

In search of the stream I knew flowed there.. and the birds
I knew must be here

The first morning I did see a great blue Heron, but he saw
me first and was gone in a flash...

Although I have been told I am part Indian, I do not know
how to walk quietly through the fallen leaves.

I love to watch the colorful leaves float downstream

I too saw a Kingfisher, but he too saw me first.

Hiking through the woods on a cool crisp morn is as good
for the soul as it is for the body.

I returned to this walk three times in a week... and each time
saw something more spectacular that nature had left for me.

The complexity and beauty of nature reminds me that
the Creator takes great care in his creations.
One solitary leaf caught on the top of a stick...just for me.

The brilliant fallen leaves provide a colorful carpet that
beckons a morning walk

A blazing yellow and orange tree beyond the bare trunks

Aha little fella, what are you hunting?

Oh My! That is a very large nut for you to carry

A flurry of sound as a Cardinal takes off from a bush nearby

Did you think you could hide from me?

I see you up there looking at me

On my third round I did get to see the Kingfisher...
but from where I was the picture just wasn't clear.
I was stooped down in the underbrush pointing
up through sticks and leaves afraid to move
closer or he would fly.
I promise I will keep going back until I capture this
noisy little fella.

Natures music is never over.... listen for the sounds of the water flowing and
watch for the colorful leaves as they float down stream. This is just so soothing to my soul.

The City that Never Sleeps

New York City is sometimes referred to as "The City That Never Sleeps"
due to its extensive 24 hour subway system and
constant bustling of traffic and people

If you are ever there, try to go to Times Square and the Empire
State Building after dark. It is an awesome sight.

As we walk up the street, straight ahead looms
the Empire State Building.

My daughter and I enter and get the elevator
up 86 floors.

As we step out and look over we both say "Wow"
in unison

It was an amazing sight to see all the millions of lights

The tall buildings

The water with its reflections

The Bridges

The later it got the more crowded the streets
seemed to get.


There's nothing to compare to the streets of NYC
Unless you are a country girl like me, and then
you would rather be walking barefoot in the grass
or hiking through the colored leaves
or playing in a stream somewhere looking for
birds and beasts to photograph.
