My Water Feature

We had just gotten new sidewalks and walls (April 2012) and I had the perfect place for a water feature....  I got a couple bids and could not afford to pay the going rate of $9,000  to $13,000.

I have 3 sons and all of them are very good at construction   so..  I decided to pay them to do it for me.

With the help of a Bobcat they moved the bubbling
rock into place
Once the liner, 200 gallon capacity aqua blocks, and all the stones were in place it was time to fill it with water and turn on the pump.

Seeing it work was so exciting
The hardest part of the work done it was time to do the planting and landscaping

I used a lot of plants I already had and bought some new ones too
My friend used her iphone and took this panorama for me
Being able to get up and walk onto the patio and hear the water is like a dream come true...  A big thanks to all who helped make it a reality.
Next.....   the birds come!

Are They...Kissing?

In going back and seeing what I took pictures of during my absence from blogging I came across these cuties hanging out in the brush that borders my yard.

At first I thought they were two youngsters playing

The one seemed to look up and say 'I see you"

Then I took a double take...  "Are they kissing"

Closed eyes and little legs hugging...  looks like a kiss to me.
"Lets talk about this shall we?"
"Maybe I came on too strong"
And as far as you go 'Miss camera person'  I saw you take those pictures..  I want that memory card now!

Keep your eyes open... you just never know what might see.

Answered Prayer

and more fun for this grandma!!
When the twins were 8 months old   ~  my son and his wife welcomed their little girl into our lives.   They had tried for 10 years and just when you think it's too late God opens the door.

She was born in March ~ How proud mommy and daddy are!
I really didn't think any grandchildren were on the radar for me.  My youngest grand daughter is 11 and I have grandsons in their 20's, so I thought maybe great grandchildren someday.... but all in a year here was 3 brand new beautiful little baby girls.
From summer into fall...  brown hair turns blonde and we have so much to be thankful for!
Now the secret is out as to why I have been absent on the blogging circuit....but I'm back!! Get ready for some amazing adventures in between the baby sitting..

I'm Back!!!

If anyone has been looking for my blog... or for my posts...  and wondering why I haven't been around...  Well...   I have a years worth of stories and pictures to share.  Before I get started on the wildlife lets begin at the beginning or ~ at least where I left off  ~

July of 2011... right after that last deer post at the river my daughter had twin girls.  She lives 2 hours away and I retired from my job and spent the next six months mostly at her place helping out.

Mommy and Daddy with baby girls...  Pandora Lynn and Lorelei Paige
Lorelei has the most hair, was first born and bigger than itty bitty Pandora who came 3 minutes later and was 1 pound lighter than her sister.
I always wanted twins but never reazlied how much WORK it would be.
By Christmas they had pretty much lost their hair but gained the biggest smiles you ever want to see
OMG is it any wonder I was spending all my time with the twins? They might have been a lot of work, but look how cute they are in their Christmas picture.
Summer arrived and we introduced them to the playground and the swings
Then along came July and their First Birthday ~ I could not believe a year had gone by
Here they are now..
Lorelei still having the most hair and Pandora still the smaller twin.
I am still going once a month to help out but have a little time to 'blog' so yes! I'm back.. One more surprise and then I can get started on all the 'wildlife' I have captured while
I was away being the proud and busy grandma.

Surprise at the River

On a trip to the river to visit with my son and check out
his new campsite we had quite a surprise

I was looking across the river and saw a small doe looking back

I called my son and he said oh yeah! it's tame

and I thought oh yeah.. sure it is
She came down to the water

and fed along the shore line

not at all concerned about me across the water taking picture after picture

Then....  she started out into the water
There were some people floating down stream and she was
heading straight for them
It was like she wanted to greet them
and that is exactly what she did... letting them pet her
She was not delayed from coming my way for long
She got to the little dam my grand daughter and daddy had made
walking around it and coming on strong
We were all in awe
My  grandson was first on the scene

and then I handed the camera off to get in on the fun

We all had lots of ideas about why she so friendly, but
really have no idea why...  but we were all thankful to be up close with this pretty little doe
The dog even got in on it
She left and walked down stream

A little later I saw a couple with her

feeding her cucumbers and carrots

She was liking that very much
