Fall is quiet......sometimes

When my yard is quiet I just watch the dog....Ben. He always
knows where the action is. I just get down on his level and
look in the direction he is staring.

When he isn't relaxing on the swing.....

or sunning on the porch

He's watching the yard .....

On this day he was watching a young squirrel trying to
crack open a walnut

He bears down and bites while holding tight

gets a firm grip and bites some more

Now he's making progress

Looks like hard work for this young'un

So hard in fact, I think he fell asleep from the stress..

Now.. on another day... Ben was staring toward the building
where we store our mowers, and so I got down and sighted
in to see what his interest was.

Mr. Groundhog was enjoying a nice apple that fell from the tree

Like the squirrel he turns it and bites into it

He doesn't know he has an audience of two... Ben and me

The shoot was interrupted by Ben running
through the yard.. ears flying....as if he could catch it
It was long gone by time he got there.

Although... at an earlier time he has cornered a young
one and had a little talk with it before I lassoed him and
drug him into the house.
Ben and me... adventures in the yard

September Days are Here...

With Summer's best of weather
And Autumn's best of cheer.
Helen Hunt Jackson

On the way to a family reunion on Saturday I spied a
little face peering at me along the road
through the leaves and sticks.
I had to get a few shots and risk being late...

She was curious but not afraid

I thought there must be a mom as she kept
looking off to the side

Unexpectedly from the other direction another fawn appeared
and now I thought Twins.

They perk their ears as the camera clicks

Trying to get a closer look at me

Then almost ignoring me and starting to eat again

When Autumn arrives the spots on the deer start to fade

If you look closely you can see just a few

They moved on down through the woods with me
following after and seemed to be interested in this stump

Now I'm really glad I stayed... Another appears..... Triplets!
Eating something on the stump

Sharing with the sibling

I zoomed in to see what was there and it looked like
a chestnut.... but I have no idea what trees are in this area

Whatever it was it was something they liked to eat

I was having such a good time getting these pictures

but as everything happens, I had to remember where I was
and that I had family waiting at a Reunion...

As I drive away I see them crossing over to the other
side and disappearing into the woods.

I always feel blessed to see these glimpses of nature
and to be able to get the pictures.

A Test-run for the Sony DSC H50

A Good traveler has no fixed plans.
and is not intent on arriving.
Lao Tzu

That's about how it seemed on this day...when I was
just looking for subjects to try out my the new Sony H50.
A yellow cat always seems like a good subject along the side
of the road...and she was curious enough to oblige.
An Old Country Barn....

Aha! This was a good test... A Red Tail flying overhead

Scenic old bridge with lots of green around

I loved the reflection of the sky in the water at the dam

I tried my hand at macro

Capturing action...as these ducks were paddling away

A little treasure who thinks he is hidden from me

Gotta be quick and inventive to get the Amish in their buggies

If you click you will see the toddler's bare feet hanging
out of the buggy's door

Not sure what this building was, but I like the way it looked
All I can say is "Holy Sheep"

There was a lot of them in these fields
These were 'utterly' hanging out

One lone Llama

Couldn't pass up a deer posing for me

Or a Killdeer in the grass

Groundhog on top of a hill
Not bad for a test run.....
