I've never seen a hummingbird go to a pine tree
Is there sap she could be seeking?
Could it be a juvenile bird seeking nectar?
Maybe someone could shed some light on this
crazy bird's interaction
with a pine tree.

Your did get a good set of photos of the whole thing though!!!
My guess is that there are insects on the tree which the bird is catching.Hummingbirds eat a lot of small insects as well as nectar.

Hummers love spiders.
ReplyDeleteYes, hummingbirds eat tiny insects, escpeially spiders. It is their only source of protein and it is what they feed their young. That is why is is not good to use pesticides in your yard. It will poison the birds!
