Going Orange....

You have heard of Going Green.......
Well today I am Going Orange.....
Every year I put out Oranges to attract
the beautiful Orioles, but sometimes get other
birds that come.
While going through my hard drive...yes I'm still at it.
I saved a bunch for you to see.
Enjoy!

I'm glad I got Mrs. Redbelly she seems to be shy and
doesn't show up as often as Mr.

I suspect she may have been feeding young by the big
mouthful of fruit in her mouth.

Catbirds are a welcome treat at the feeders... They
are not only pretty but have a lovely song to serenade

Now this is what I was hoping for... male Baltimore Oriole

  1. I like your idea of putting the orange halves on the ends of tree branches.

I love catbirds too and agree that their songs are wonderful.

  4. It is funny that you posted pictures of the red bellied woodpecker eating oranges today. I just started getting a red bellied at my feeding station and did some research on this bird and read that they liked oranges.

I have some clementines and I peeled it and put the sections in a coconut feeder of mine. I had my doubts on whether they actually liked oranges and then I found your blog post and have solid evidence!!

Love the orioles. I have them in my yard from June to August. They LOVE Mullberries and I have a tree full of them.

    Great pictures.

  6. The shots were terrific!

I especially loved the female red belly!

What really caught my eye was the varied posts you used to mount your oranges!

    Good luck next year!
